IMPERIAL, Pa. — There just aren’t many companies or organizations that can say they’ve been around for 104 years. SNPJ has. A loyal membership can take much of the credit for SNPJ’s longevity. Our SNPJ history details how our hard-working members, through the labor movement, were responsible for the growth of the Society.
It also takes a degree of financial responsibility for an organization to sustain itself for so many years. In fact, we have consistently grown financially over those years to build a significant amount of assets. Our balance sheet shows $160 million in assets with a surplus of $9.3 million. These assets are backed by a strong investment portfolio with an average rating of A+.
However, SNPJ’s greatest asset will never show on our balance sheet. So then, what is our greatest asset? Is it our competitive life insurance and annuity products? Not exactly. Perhaps it’s our beautiful Recreation Center? Not really.
Our greatest asset that will never show on a balance sheet... it’s the smiles on the faces of our young members during the fun time they had at SNPJ Youth Roundup, and the sparkle in Miss SNPJ’s eyes when she greets you.
It’s the pride that’s felt when we tour our SNPJ Slovenian Heritage museum and our celebration of Slovenia’s EU presidency, which Slovenia enjoyed in the first half of this year.
It’s that warm feeling that parents and grandparents get when their child or grandchild receives an SNPJ scholarship; the pleasant surprise our members receive when their 50-year membership awards arrive.
It’s the families who have made SNPJ Family Week their family tradition. And how about the laughs and the fun that our senior members have during Senior Roundup? It’s the fun of dancing and socializing with friends old and new during our SNPJ events.
In one word, the greatest asset that will never show on the SNPJ balance sheet is that feeling, that spirit, that experience we call fraternalism.
