Girard Lodge 643 planning
to Make a Difference at home

by TONY KREN, Lodge 643 Secretary

GIRARD, Ohio — During our October meeting, Golden Eagles Lodge 643 members decided to work with the Emmanuel Community Care Center in Girard for our Make a Difference Day project. In addition to our monetary gift, we are asking members to donate the following items to the community center: canned sweet potatoes, canned pumpkin, evaporated milk, fruit, jello and boxes of pie crust mix.

These donations will support Thanksgiving dinner baskets for families in the area. The items must be delivered to our Nov. 20 meeting at Amen Corner, or to the community center by Nov. 21. The community center is located at the corner of Liberty and State streets in Girard. Their hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Fridays. If you need help delivering your canned goods, contact Tony Kren at (330) 545-4981.

The plans for our Christmas party are moving ahead as scheduled for Amen Corner in Girard. The party will be held Sunday, Dec. 14, starting at 5 p.m. The menu and cost of the event will be announced at our next meeting. Brittney Zemko is coordinating the Youth Circle 7 Christmas party, which will also take place Dec. 14 at Amen’s. The youth party will begin at 1 p.m.

Lodge 643 is planning a celebration dinner for Brittney, our own Miss SNPJ 2009, in April. The date and location will be confirmed early next year as the planning progresses for this gala event.

Our next Lodge meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Amen Corner. Don’t forget to bring your donations for the Emmanuel Community Care Center to the meeting.
