IMPERIAL, Pa. — We’re coming down the home stretch with final plans for the 2009 SNPJ National Bowling Tournament, co-sponsored by Lodge 776 and the SNPJ Recreation Center the weekend of May 2-3. The bowling weekend will kick off Friday, May 1, with a welcome dance in the Gostilna featuring Ted Zalac from 8 to 10:30 p.m. The Recreation Center kitchen will be open Friday and Saturday during the bowling weekend, serving a full menu of delicious food.

All bowlers should be aware of the construction underway on Route 170. Route 170 is closed in Petersburg, Ohio, at the flashing light. The detour from the bowling centers is as follows:

From Boardman, Ohio, to the Rec Center – in New Middletown, Ohio, turn left off Route 170 onto Columbiana Road. Take Columbiana Road to State Line Road. Turn right onto State Line Road. Follow State Line Road to Route 108. Turn left onto State Route 108. The Rec Center will be on your right. The Rec Center will have detour signs posted.

From Pittsburgh to the Rec Center, it’s recommended that you take Route 60 North to the Route 108, Mount Jackson exit. You will pass through a $0.65 toll and a $1.25 toll. Turn left onto Route 108 and the Rec Center will be approximately seven miles on your left.

The Fun-n-Frolic event planned Friday evening has been canceled due to lack of entries. Any money received will be refunded.

Doubles and singles events will be bowled Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The bowling committee would like to remind all bowlers to check-in at their bowling center no later than 30 minutes prior to bowling. On Saturday, May 2, join us in the Gostilna from 7 to 11 p.m. Dance the night away to the music of DJ Bob Matasy. Free appetizers will be provided.
