IMPERIAL, Pa. — The Fraternal Department and the SNPJ Recreation Center invite all members to the Rec Center during Labor Day weekend as we celebrate the 70th National SNPJ Days event.

The weekend kicks off Friday, Sept. 4, with entertainment by Larry Placek in the Gostilna from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Get there early to grab a seat and enjoy the evening.

Activity starts early Saturday, Sept. 5, as our golfers arrive at Bedford Trails Golf Course to compete in the 65th National SNPJ Golf Tournament. The tournament will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Golfers, please arrive by 8:15 a.m. for check-in. A complete list of participants will be posted on the web site after the entry deadline. A special hole-in-one prize of $5,000 will be awarded on one of the par-3 holes, and all participants are eligible to win the many door prizes that have been donated by our suppliers. The golfers will return to the Rec Center for dinner at 4 p.m., follow-ed by door prize drawings at 4:30.

The Rec Center Reverse Raffle will be held in the Alpine Room Saturday beginning with hors d’oevres from 5 to 6 p.m., dinner from 6 to 7 p.m., the Reverse Raffle from 7 to 8 p.m. and dancing to the Wayne Tomsic Combo from 8 to 11 p.m. Remember, you must have a ticket for this adult-only banquet.

The finals for the SNPJ National Balina Tournament will begin Sunday, Sept. 6, at 9 a.m. The SNPJ National Horseshoes Tournament will also begin at 9 a.m., and this year’s new event, a beanbag toss tournament, will begin at 1 p.m. Entry forms for all SNPJ National Tournaments taking place Labor Day weekend are available on this web site or by contacting me at the Home Office.

Beginning at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, the National SNPJ Days golf cart parade will launch at the upper pavilion and proceed through the trailer court to the new pavilion. This will be the location for the National SNPJ Days picnic. Be sure to come out and cheer on the participants.

A free dance is scheduled Sunday afternoon for all members and friends to help the Society celebrate National SNPJ Days. Miss SNPJ 2010 Kara Maruszak (53) will be in attendance to add to the excitement. The crowd-pleasing entertainment will feature the Joe Grkman Orchestra and the Ted Zalak Orchestra sharing the stage from 2 to 8 p.m.

Once again, everyone’s favorite will be served at the picnic – Ivan and his crew will provide delicious food for the National SNPJ Days picnic beginning at 2 p.m. The snack bar will be open as well, and food will be available for purchase in the Gostilna all weekend long.

We’d like to mention that no outside food or beverages should be brought onto the grounds. We thank you in advance for respecting this policy as food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The Rainbow Express, a Slovenefest favorite, will be running across the Recreation Center grounds on Sunday. The Fraternal Department will host a variety of activities for the children during the picnic as well.

Be sure to bring your family to the SNPJ Recreation Center to share in the fraternal spirit of National SNPJ Days. If you have any questions, please contact me at 1-800-843-7675 or krichards@snpj.com.
