IMPERIAL, Pa. — It’s been almost 20 years since an SNPJ bowling tournament has been held in Indianapolis, and the Fraternal Department is pleased to announce that we are returning to Indy!

The 2010 SNPJ National Bowling Tournament, hosted by SNPJ Lodge 34 in Indianapolis, is scheduled the weekend of May 1-2. Brothers Jerry and Jozef Watson will serve as tournament co-secretaries.

The weekend will kick off Friday, April 30, 2010, with a meet and greet for all bowlers at the Slovenian National Home in Indianapolis from 6 p.m. until close. Bowling has been arranged at nearby Brownsburg Bowl. Participants will roll their doubles and singles games Saturday, May 1, on one of two shifts beginning at 10 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Team competition will be held Sunday, May 2, again with two shifts, 9 a.m. and noon.

A dance is planned Saturday evening from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Dog House Sports Bar located in the bowling center. Entertainment will be provided by the Polka Dots. Smoked sausage sandwiches will be available for purchase.

Rooms have been secured at three area hotels. The Holiday Inn Express, 31 Maplehurst Dr., (317) 852-5353, is offering rooms for $83 per night plus tax. The Hampton Inn, 41 Maplehurst Dr., (317) 852-5800, is offering standard king rooms for $94 per night plus tax and one room suites for $114 per night plus tax. The Comfort Suites, 500 W. Northfield Dr., (317) 852-2000, is offering rooms for $89 per night plus tax. According to Jerry, these hotels are within walking distance of the bowling center.
