EUCLID, Ohio — The date is set for an afternoon and evening of pure button box music along with the voices of the Youth Circle 2 Slovenian Junior Chorus. The Super Button Box Bash will be held Sunday, April 11, at the Slovenian Society Home, 20713 Recher Ave. in Euclid.
The bash will highlight polka bands and, of course, the children of Youth Circle 2 who will perform beginning at 3 p.m. in the Upper Hall. The children are set to perform a variety of polkas, waltzes and Slovenian folk songs. This is the one big event that the children work so hard for each year. I know they look forward to the day-long event.
At this time, not all of the bands have been confirmed. A few performers have been confirmed, including 2009 Button Box Musician of the Year Ron Likovic and 2009 Button Box Group of the Year Fairport Jammers. Following the Circle 2 performance, Cleveland’s very own Miss SNPJ 2010 Kara Maruszak (53) will make an appearance and perform a few tunes on her button box.
Bus groups are welcome, and passengers will receive a discounted admission price of $5. Otherwise, admission will be $7 at the door. All children under 18 will be admitted free of charge.
Sandwiches and sides will be provided by Joe Tavcar, and beverages will be available for purchase. Musicians, with button box in hand, will join in on the jam.
April 11 will be a great time to shake those winter doldrums. The Youth Circle 2 Super Button Box Bash always proves to be an entertaining and fun-filled afternoon. Besides, what better way to get those dancing legs ready for all the upcoming summer events?
More information on the Youth Circle 2 Super Button Box Bash will be provided as additional bands sign on for this big event. If you have any questions, contact Kathleen Trebets at kat21_2@hotmail.com.
