EUCLID, Ohio — A new year is here. I hope that you all have a healthy and happy 2012!

The Loyalites are hosting a “SLO-ISH  Doubles”  bowling tournament at Wickliffe Lanes Saturday, April 14. Participants will include SNPJ members along with Irish American Club Eastside members. This will be a great social fraternal event, uniting two nationalities. Come and make some new friends!

The SLO-ISH  Doubles tournament entry fee is $18 for adults, and $13 for children ages 12 to 17. The entry fee includes lane fees, shoe rental, food and prizes. The highest-scoring Slovenian and Irish teams will roll-off for the trophy. It never hurts to try something different! For a registration form, or if you have any questions, contact Gina Volpe at (440) 205-1618.

Everyone seems to get a little lazy after the holidays, so the Loyalites didn’t have much activity in January. However, we have at least three teams participating in the SNPJ Winter Classic Bowling Tournament the weekend of Feb. 17 through 19. Let’s wish them all good luck. Maybe they’ll come back with some big wins.

The Loyalites Lodge Christmas party went well this past year; however, we have decided to celebrate “Christmas in July” this year. We will hold our Christmas party during our annual picnic, scheduled July 29 at the SNPJ Farm in Kirtland, Ohio. We’re looking forward to seeing Santa in his red shorts! We’ll have to wait and see what Santa’s transportation will be since his reindeer don’t like flying in warm weather.

Since January has come and gone, we extend a belated happy birthday wish to Ruth Prelock. Our February birthday celebrants include Tom Wojtila, Kathy Pestotnik, Delene Wojtila, Stephen Godec, Ron Godec and Eileen Markusic. Happy 25th anniversary to Donna and Bob Helmacy.

Eileen Markusic will be heading down to Florida in March for a couple of months. She is curious to find out what damage was done to her mobile home after her neighbor smashed into it when backing out of his driveway. Let’s pray the damage isn’t too extensive.

Loyalites Lodge Secretary Linda Gorjup has recovered very well from her broken wrist. She admits that she needs to learn how to pick up her feet and not trip over downspouts. It’s good to have her back in full force.

As always, prayers and thoughts to all of our ailing members and families of the deceased.
