Slovenefest XXIX: July 9-11, 2010

Slovenefest is SNPJ’s annual celebration of ethnic culture. This three-day event held every second weekend of July brings together thousands to enjoy the ethnic food, music, culture and fun of Slovenia. Held at the SNPJ Recreation Center in the Borough of SNPJ (Enon Valley), Pa., Slovenefest also offers visitors the opportunity to polka and waltz, Slovenian-style, in four different venues. There’s never a dull moment at Slovenefest — the entertainment runs continuously from noon until late at night. Special entertainment for children is arranged by the SNPJ Fraternal Department. Camping facilities and RV hookups are available, parking is free and there is access to a first-aid tent.

During the weekend of July 9-11, 2010, SNPJ will celebrate the 29th anniversary of Slovenefest along with the 54th anniversary of the Miss SNPJ Pageant, which has become a highlight of Slovenefest activity since moving to Slovenefest weekend back in 1998. The four performance venues for Slovenefest XXVIII include the air-conditioned Alpine Room and the spacious Outside Stage, which host the popular Slovenian-style polka bands; the new International Pavilion, which is reserved for more traditional, ethnic Slovenian musicians and visiting performers; and the Gostilna (club room), which pulses with the beat of a variety of button box clubs and good-time musicians. Do you consider yourself a musician? Bring along your instrument and join in the jam sessions scheduled throughout the weekend in the Food & Jam Tent.

There’s something for everyone at Slovenefest — music, dancing, food, friends and fun! So get the entire family together this July and head out to the SNPJ Recreation Center in the Borough of SNPJ (Enon Valley), Pa., [map it] to help SNPJ celebrate another fun-filled Slovenefest weekend.
