Miss SNPJ 2019

Miss SNPJ 2019 ELIZABETH SMRDEL is a member of Lodge 158 in Euclid, Ohio. She is the daughter of Janet and Gary Smrdel (158), and the granddaughter of Marilyn (158) and Martin Hulin, and the late Francina and Ludwig Smrdel (126).

Elizabeth graduated from Mentor High School with the Community Service Honor Cord. She was a lettered member of the Fighting Cardinal Marching Band Color Guard and Rifle Line, and also participated in Winter Guard during her senior year.

Throughout high school, Elizabeth volunteered at the Lake Farm Park where she worked various holiday functions and helped in the dairy room. She volunteered as a flag coach for youth and at various festivals, painting faces or running the children’s games.

This fall, Elizabeth will start her senior year at Baldwin Wallace University where she is a public relations major with a double minor in marketing and arts management. She participates in the Baldwin Wallace Color Guard and the Marching Yellow Jackettes, and is a cheerleader for the men’s basketball team.

She was recently inducted into Gamma Sigma Alpha, a national academic honor society, is a member of the Arts Management Association, and serves on the executive board for the Public Relations Student Society of America.

Elizabeth has been a member of Lodge 158 since birth and has remained active through Christmas parties, Lodge picnics, and participating in the Youth Circle 2 bowling league. She currently serves Lodge 158 as a second-term auditor and helps plan Lodge activities.

Elizabeth has served as a delegate to the TEL Workshop and Young Adult Conference, and as a counselor for Youth Roundup and TEL. She has been visiting the SNPJ Recreation Center her entire life, and looks forward to National Days, Fraternal Weekend, Slovenefest and Family Week each year. She is also active at the Slovenian Society Home where she volunteers for a number of events.
