The SNPJ Farm is gearing up for the 2013 season
April 23, 2013 - GERRI TREBETS (604), SNPJ Farm Board Recording Secretary
KIRTLAND, Ohio — It’s that time again, folks! It seems as though Mr. Winter has finally loosened his grip, and we are headed into spring and warmer temperatures.
The grounds crew at the SNPJ Farm has been busy getting ready for the new season, and believe me, there is plenty of work to be done: repairs to the buildings, general maintenance and yard work are all a part of making the grounds beautiful and ready for the picnic season. We could really use extra hands at the Farm, so again, a plea goes out to any individual who may have extra time and would like to join in. Work days are Tuesday and Thursday, and there is no compensation. If you are interested, please contact Joe Blatnik at (440) 943-1191.
We’re excited about getting underway again at the Farm, and our first outing is the Spring Pancake & Sausage Breakfast planned for Sunday, May 19. We’ll be serving up delicious light and fluffy pancakes, golden brown sausage patties, orange juice and a hot beverage from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. I guarantee you’ll want to go back for seconds.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. You can’t beat the price! Tell your family, friends and neighbors to take a ride out and enjoy the great food. Our illustrious pancake flippers will make sure you don’t go away hungry.
Soon the grounds will be permeated with the great smells of the home cooking served up by our Ladies Auxiliary and members of individual Lodges whose event falls on any given Sunday throughout the summer. Don’t forget the luscious, mouth-watering krofe made right on the premises!
We were saddened to have lost two staunch members of the Ladies Auxiliary last year, Dolores Dobida and Eleanor Godec. These two ladies were very dedicated to the SNPJ Farm. They loved making their customers smile and seeing them walk away satisfied. They’ll be sorely missed and thought of each and every time we enter the kitchen area.
Another Farm Board member, Tony Nosse, passed away at the end of the year. Tony was a member of Lodge 5. He attended all the meetings and came out to the picnics throughout the year.
We offer Friends of the Farm passes which realize a great savings for the picnics throughout the season. The cost is $70 for a single and $120 for a couple. Please contact Joe Blatnik for more information. If you attend most of the events, you may want to invest in one of these passes.
We’re looking forward to another successful season, and we hope each and every one of you will make plans to attend the activities. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, enjoying nature’s beautiful scenery, eating delicious home-cooked meals and listening to the toe-tapping, feet-a-dancing tunes played by the various bands in our area. We appreciate your past support and hope you will continue to do so. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to continue. Why not ask some of your friends and neighbors to come out so they can see our beautiful grounds?
I’m excited about getting into another season, and I look forward to seeing you once again. I do hope you all are enjoying good health. We have to embrace life with a prayer and thanks, and enjoy each day to the fullest.
