Anticipating An SNPJ Summer

It’s an unseasonably warm day here in the Pittsburgh area. With promises of 80-degree temperatures this afternoon and the sun taunting me from outside my office window, I can’t help but shift my thoughts to summer and all that the season brings. Everyone’s itching to shake off their cabin fever and enjoy all those warm-weather activities that just can’t be done with snow on the ground and a winter chill in the air.

As usual, the SNPJ’s summer schedule is packed Memorial Day to Labor Day and beyond. Our SNPJ Recreation Center is gearing up for their busiest time of the year. They’ve released their 2012 summer schedules, and have some exciting changes set to take place this year. The SNPJ Heritage Center is busy preparing to unveil their newly remodeled gift shop. Its grand opening and dedication ceremony is set for May 5, the same weekend as the SNPJ National Bowling Tournament.

Golf courses all around will be filled this summer with SNPJ members participating in the CAL Don Gorjup Open, Western Pa. Lodge 138 Tournament and Tony Mlinar Memorial Outing.  Let’s not forget Family Weeks, Youth Roundup, Senior Week, TEL, the Young Adult Conference, Miss SNPJ Pageant and Slovenefest XXXI! And of course, an SNPJ summer is never complete with National SNPJ Days at the end of August.

It may seem like summer takes its sweet time getting here, but all this fun will be here before you know it! SNPJ has a lot in store for you this summer… are you ready?
